What is the difference between role and Profile

The role is the combination of t-codes, reports, urls under the menu option in pfcg t-code we can find these things, when ever u generate a role one profile will be generated that depends upon the assigned authorizations. If authorizations are more than 150 roles   itself create the composite profile for that role.
